How to convert GIF to WebP
- Drop your GIF files onto the box above, or paste them with Ctrl+V.
- Pick a quality. Around 90% is indistinguishable from the original for most images.
- Your browser decodes and re-encodes each file on your own machine.
- Download them one at a time, or all at once.
About GIF
Ancient, limited to 256 colours, still everywhere.
Worth knowing: Only the first frame is converted — the result is a still image, not an animation.
About WebP
Smallest of the three at the same visible quality, and keeps transparency.
Will the quality change?
WebP is lossy, so the image is decoded and re-encoded and a little detail is dropped. At high quality this is invisible. Convert once from your original rather than repeatedly, because each pass compounds.
